Keraton Kaibon (Kaibon Fort)

Location :

Kasunyatan, 42191 Kesemen, Serang, Indonesia, Kasunyatan, Kasemen, Serang City, Banten 42191

The word "Kaibon" means "keibuan" in Indonesian Language, or "nurturing" in English, that particular philosophy was the reason behind the development of Kaibon, for the fort is a gift from Sultan Syaifusin, the 21st Sultan of Banten Kingdom to his mother, Queen Aisyah of Banten. Syaifudin crowned a Sultan in a very young age, he was five years old.

Unfortunately, the fort had to be demolished due to the intention of Governor General of Ducth East Indies, Daendels, to build the Great Post Road that run across java, from Anyer to Panarukan, in 1832.

Being one of iconic landmark in Serang, the remaining parts of the building is still noticeably grand with walls surrounding the colums and footings, moreover combined with curved door frame and classic gate (gapura) would be a very attractive backgruond for visitor to take picture. Green pastures around the area atrrack locals to feed their goats. Sunstes would be a lovely time to capture moments in this place
